Nicola Bolton

Nicola Bolton

Nicola was born on 25th December 1982 in Preston, Lancashire, UK, and currently lives with mum and grandparents in Chorley.

"I have always loved writing, art and drawing cartoons.  In 2001 after leaving art college, I got my first job at Manchester Airport as a part-time trainee office assistant working on the then in-house newspaper "PlaneTalk" and designing various aviation themed cartoons and a children's in-flight magazine.

Since then I have worked for many different companies and am still hoping for a big break with my cartoons. My first novel in 2003 and in 2007 published it, along with several others.  I have now written, illustrated and published over 20 children's books, with topics ranging from commerical aviation to Roman history, volcanoes, to talking refrigerators! My most popular books are my "Takeoff Tales" stories, which follow the adventures of a fleet of talking airliners who live at Manchester Airport and fly for fictional airline "AEROSOL." Nothing in aviation is safe from being parodied in my work!

It is my ambition to see at least one of my books turned into an animated series someday. I love: drawing cartoons, flying, planespotting, travel, Japanese culture and playing Pokemon games."

Nicola hates: spiders, cold weather, and those branches that sprout from old potatoes.
