Wende Huizer, born in
After starting the studies of Dutch language and literature and Educational Theory at Leiden University in 1997 she became a primary school teacher (1st en 2nd grade) in Amsterdam in 2001.
Although she really enjoyed the teaching she decided to end that career, to concentrate on her “creative ambitions” in drawing and writing.
Since it wasn’t (and isn’t) easy to make a living out of creativity alone, she “accidentally” became a stewardess.
Aviation became one of her sources of inspiration.
The passengers, the colleagues, the cliches...it all came together in her first book “Wijntje – Stewardess in Opleiding” (Wijntje, stewardess in training) published in 2009 with the great help of Martin Leeuwis Publications.
At this moment Wende still works as a stewardess – linetrainer for KLM – Cityhopper.
Besides the flying she started her all tiny little company TanteWen.nl to give all her creativity a platform.
